Megan Travis•3 years ago I have started this proposal today as I am aware that the family nurse partnership is being removed by possibly next year (2024). The family nurse partnership is a group of well dedicated family nurses who help and point young parents in the right direction. These nurses visit every 2 weeks, explaining what your child’s mile stones are, how they are growing, their weight, speech etc. this would be an absolute shame to be getting rid of this partnership as my family nurse has helped me for the past year and a half! They are the best team I could have asked for. It’s never made me feel uncomfortable and if anything made me feel like I had an extra friend by my side throughout my child’s first year of life. My family nurse has been absolutely amazing in helping me feel like a great parent and not being patronising if I’d done something wrong. It would be a shame to get rid of this amazing group of people who help push young parents who could be struggling, in the right direction. this proposal was made as it seems unfair to leave child visits to health visitors if the young parents are struggling. A yearly visit is not enough for some parents and some, like me, like to know that they are doing everything right and it’s all down to advice and tips that come from this lovely group. Please do not get rid of them.
