MediaCity & Quayside Regeneration Framework

The public consultation period has now closed. We will review all feedback and update the draft Regeneration Framework to a final draft, to be considered by Salford City Council's Cabinet in Spring 2024.

The Regeneration Framework covers an area of 23.30 ha, comprising two large parcels referred to as MediaCity and Quayside, which are connected by The Quays road.

The draft Framework sets out opportunities to enhance the area through improving existing public spaces and creating new high-quality spaces, providing a town centre that meets the Salford Local Plan aspirations and delivering new business spaces, homes, amenities and leisure offering that locals can benefit from whilst meeting market demands.

Preparing the Draft Regeneration Framework

1 May 2023 23:00 - 1 October 2023 23:00

This new regeneration framework which spans 23.30 hectares, outlines plans including 3,000 new homes, more business opportunities across circa 75,000 sq metres as well as access to employment, retail, leisure and recreation.

Building on the Salford Quays 2030 Vision this framework outlines four key aspirations for the area:

  • creating a vibrant and convenient town centre offering
  • developing more commercial office space
  • delivering high quality and affordable homes within attractively landscaped neighbourhoods
  • enhancing the current waterfront and public realm areas while creating new green spaces.

The proposed regeneration project will stretch from MediaCity’s current footprint doubling its size including the area around Quayside and will be defined by four distinct quarters each characterised by a specific purpose.

Over the past year we have been working hard to prepare the draft Regeneration Framework. It has been prepared with input from a multidisciplinary team:

  • Prior and Partners – Urban Design and Masterplanning
  • Alexandra Steed URBAN – Landscape
  • The Environment Partnership (TEP) – Ecology and Biodiversity
  • The Traffic, Transport & Highway Consultancy (TTHC) – Transport
  • GIA - Wind
  • Deloitte LLP – Planning

The Consultation boards will be on display to review for six weeks in the Customer Service Centre, upper level, Quayside shopping centre
