Additional HMO Licensing Survey

Salford City Council is consulting on a proposal to introduce Additional Licensing for Section 257 HMOs across the city.

If introduced, landlords of these properties would be required to apply for a licence. Each building would be inspected to ensure minimum safety conditions are met and each licence would be issued with a set of conditions that must be adhered too.

The council must consult with residents, landlords, businesses, and organisations before making a decision.

We encourage anyone who may wish to make comments on these proposals should review the evidence document and complete the survey, available from 4 February 2026 to 15 April 2026.
