We have £2,115 of funding available, tell us what to spend it on

The Islington Linear Park is a long-term regeneration plan led by the communities' needs and ideas. Salford City Council is seeking funding opportunities to develop and deliver these plans, one step at a time. We currently have £2,115 of funding available through a developer contribution which needs to be spent on public spaces within the Islington Linear Park area to benefit the wider community by 15 July 2025. We are therefore asking the community to tell us what they would like these funds to pay for.
We have put together a list of suggestions to choose from. As the allocation of these funds coincides with the delivery of the Active Neighbourhood scheme, we believe focusing on improvements around the railway underpass could make the most impact and represent best use of the money. However, we are open to all ideas provided they can be realised with the available funding and harness wider community support.
Here are some suggestions on what the funding could be spent on:
- Remove the fence along East Ordsall Lane park to make the space more open and accessible
- Build mobile planters for the community to use and grow plants
- Clean off graffiti on the wall along Stevenson Street
You can vote on these suggestions by scrolling down the page.
If you would like to talk to us about the available funding and its effective allocation, or the wider Linear Park project in person, we will be hosting a drop-in session at Islington Mill on 23 April from 6pm to 8pm. Please check out the event card below for more details or email shaping@salford.gov.uk.
